Awards are given out at the end of each instructional year. Elementary awards are given out at an Award Assembly during the school day. Secondary school awards are given out at a spring banquet that is held after school. This banquet is very formal and all secondary students are encouraged to attend.
At the elementary level, awards maybe given in the following categories:
-an award may be given for outstanding performance in a given discipline
-Josh Williams Sports Award
-Biblical character awards
At the secondary level, awards are given in the following categories:
- 3.5 and 4.0 performances are recognized
- outstanding performances in a given discipline are also recognized
-attendance awards are given to recognize perfect attendance
-citizenship awards: Students are voted on by CCS faculty. This award is based Galatians 5:22; individuals are characterized based on their behavior in terms of being patient, kind, peaceful, loving, and responsible. This is not an academically based award.
-warrior award: This award is voted on by the secondary faculty of CCS. Recipients are chosen from one young lady and one young man in each of the Jr. High and Sr. High. This award is given to full-time students who embody I Corinthians 16:13. These students are those that the faculty feel will “ hold tight” to their faith in any given circumstance.
-all class “ spirit stick” award: The student council awards points throughout the school year to classes based on involvement in activities. This award is given to the class that has earned the most points. The class graduation year is placed on a plaque and the class also receives $100.00 towards their senior year.
-athletic awards: these awards are given by coaches and faculty of CCS for students who have performed at a high level in a particular sport. * see athletics
-letter jackets: students that have lettered in any area are eligible to purchase a letter jacket. Jackets are ordered through Player’s Sports. Students may order numbers and graduation year, but all other symbols must be awarded by the school.
At the end of every school year, a spring banquet is held. This very formal event is comprised of two elements, a formal dining experience and an awards ceremony. Only CCS students ( invited senior guests), faculty, and administrative guests are invited to attend the banquet. All parents and guests are invited to attend the awards ceremony. Senior guests need to follow all dress code guidelines.
Gentlemen: Unacceptable-jeans, polos, tee-shirts
Acceptable attire includes:
-nice or formal wear, which is:
-tux, suit, sports jacket, dress shirt w/tie, banded collar shirt, dress pants, or vest
-school guidelines for jewelry, facial hair, etc. are still in effect.
Ladies: strapless, halter, low front or back are unacceptable.
Dresses need to be approved by designated person prior to banquet, this includes any and all alterations.
Acceptable wear includes; nice or formal dress with the following
-slits no higher than 3 inches above your knees
-back must not come below where a normal bra would
-shoulders may be cut in toward the neck on the front and back
-straps should cover a normal bra strap, at least ¾ inch minimum. Bras must be worn. Stoles or sheer material cannot be used in place of straps
-length must come to the bend in the back of the knee or below
-school guidelines regarding piercings and accessories are still in effect
-dresses need to be approved by designated person prior to banquet
-designated person will be at the banquet door
-if attire has been altered since approval or does not meet guidelines the student will be sent home to correct the problem
