Usually, the first sign is itching or scratching in the area of the body where the lice feed. Itching at the back of the head or around the ears may result from the presence of head lice and nits in the hair. Please recognize the following information regarding head lice:
-please notify the office immediately
-if a child is found with Head Lice at school, each child in the school is checked
-parents must treat the student and then have the student checked by the Health
-we must have a note from the health department stating that they have Ok’d the
student to return to school
-the student must be re-checked in 7-10 days
If a child is ill, the student’s parent’s will be contacted to come pick them up.
If students require medication during school hours, the medication with the doctor’s instructions and a signed parental authorization must be brought to the school office. We can administer non-prescription medications only if a consent form has been filled out and signed by the parent and is on file in the school office.

Students may carry and self-administer inhaled asthmas medication but must sign the parent authorization form which can be found in the school office. Parents must also provide a written statement from a physician stating that the student is capable of self-administering the medicine, and written notification to the parent or guardian that school employees are exempt from liability as a result of any insure from self-administration.
